Meet the Team: Theresa O’Neil from Marketing

Meet the Team is a recurring series on the PowerReviews blog, allowing you to get to know the people behind our success.

We recently sat down with Theresa O’Neil, our Senior Vice President of Marketing (and resident yogi), to learn about her role, the (many) reasons she loves her job, and where you can find her when she’s not in the office.


What are your responsibilities as SVP of Marketing?
I’m responsible for building and leading the marketing team in the development and execution of programs that increase awareness of the PowerReviews brand and technology, generate leads, and support direct and indirect channels to grow revenue and profitability.

What made you decide to join the PowerReviews team?
I was running a marketing consulting business when I connected with Matt Moog in spring of 2014 and had no intention of taking another marketing VP position. However, the PowerReviews opportunity was unique. There was a strong product line with 1,000 customers, but there was also a start-up vibe and opportunity for growth. I was presented with an opportunity to build the new brand and to build a team of really talented people whom I wanted to lead. Plus, “ratings and reviews” is something everyone understands and values. I knew I’d regret it if I didn’t take the job.

What do you enjoy most about working at PowerReviews?
The people. I love working with my team, sales, product, engineering, moderation, implementation, HR, legal… I hope I didn’t forget anybody! I love learning from others who have expertise in areas that are new to me, and I love sharing my expertise with others.

Our customers and partners are also a great source of inspiration and education. I love learning about the specifics of their business — their challenges and opportunities. And I really enjoy sharing PowerReviews’ vision of the future. Having a collaborative conversation around the art of the possible is always energizing and inspiring.

I once described our CEO Matt Moog as having “pragmatic impatience.” Matt pushes his team to a higher level of performance by providing a critical eye, imaginative vision, and pragmatic impatience that helps his team work smarter and faster than the competition. He demands excellence from himself and his colleagues in all things. This attitude helps everyone here excel.

What do you like to do when you’re not working?
I’m a student and teacher of yoga and meditation. I teach yoga every Saturday in New Buffalo, MI and also offer meditation workshops for businesses. In fact, I’ll be leading meditation workshops at PowerReviews offices starting in 2016.

I also love to cook on my awesome Wolf stove (purchased at one of our client’s stores and reviewed on their website!).



And I commute 1.5 hours each way from Beverly Shores, Indiana, a small town of 800 people in the middle of the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore. In the summer, you’ll find me on the beach, and in the other seasons, on the hiking trails.

I wouldn’t commute 15+ hours a week if I didn’t love my job!
