PowerReviews Enhances Enterprise-class Review Engine with Tagging and CSS Features

Web 2.0 Features Give Customers and Retailers Unmatched Flexibility and Ease of Use

Millbrae, Calif. May 8, 2006 - PowerReviews, the pioneer in providing a free, outsourced customer review service to retailers and brands, today announced the availability of PowerReviews v2. The new v2 features, based on PowerReviews' patent-pending technologies, further extend its deep enterprise-class functionality while adding new capabilities that make it the most "Web 2.0-compatible" customer review solution on the market today.

PowerReviews v2 further leverages the solution's unique capabilities, such as PowerTags, which simplify the review-writing process by allowing customers to either agree with comments submitted by previous reviewers or add their own comments. This powerful voting interface lets retailers gather insight in a structured way, while allowing customers to fully express themselves.

"We are discovering that customers are submitting hundreds of unique Tags as part of the review process and our retail partners are demanding more flexibility and control," said Robert Chea, co-founder and COO of PowerReviews. "Guided by this feedback, we have enhanced our v2 offering to make the review process easier and more useful to the customer. At the same time, we've given retailers unprecedented control over the presentation and management of reviews."

"Our customers are making great use of PowerTags on each review page and are providing us with a wealth of useful information about our products that we didn't have any efficient way to gather in the past," says Paul Fish, CEO of MountainGear. "With PowerReviews v2, the 'suggest' feature makes it easier for our customers to agree with other members of our shopping community, and it gives us more precise, detailed information."

"The upgrade to v2 was simple and seamless for all of our customers because of our Asymmetrical ASP technology, which automatically integrated the updates and new features," added Chea. "MountainGear was able to simply 'turn on' the new functionality without any additional effort."

PowerReviews v2 features include:

Tag Suggest

PowerReviews is the only solution that enables customers to either agree with previous customers or add their own comments with its patent-pending PowerTags feature. The new Tag Suggest feature extends the PowerTags functionality by leveraging commonly-contributed customer terms via an auto complete function to suggest ideas to other customers who want to enter their own PowerTags. The Tag Suggest feature helps consolidate customer contributed terms and accelerate the evolution of tags, leading to better reporting and more insightful merchandising data.

Snippets

Customers shouldn't have to search on a web page to find a product review. Snippets display the average customer rating for a product in a small highlighted area that appears "above the fold" on a retailer's site, making it easier for a customer to find a review at the top of a page. Snippets can also be used to highlight ratings for multiple products on a category or search results page

Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) Enhancement

PowerReviews' new CSS enhancements help a retailer maintain brand consistency by easily changing the look and feel of a review display area (e.g., colors, fonts, star rating icons, highlighted sections) to align with their website look-and-feel; it also gives customers a more seamless experience with the overall retail brand.
