This privacy policy is intended to inform you about PowerReviews, Inc.’s (“PowerReviews”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collection, use, and disclosure of information that we receive through the software and advertising services (“Services”) that we provide on third party websites of our Clients (the “PowerReviews Network”). PowerReviews, Inc. has been awarded TRUSTe's Privacy Seal signifying that this privacy policy and practices have been reviewed by TRUSTe for compliance with TRUSTe’s Web Privacy, TRUSTed Data and TRUSTed Cloud program requirements including transparency, accountability and choice regarding the collection and use of your personal information. TRUSTe's mission, as an independent third party, is to accelerate online trust among consumers and organizations globally through its leading privacy trustmark and innovative trust solutions.

TRUSTe’s certifications cover the collection and use of information PowerReviews receives through the PowerReviews Network. TRUSTe’s certifications do not cover information that may be collected from mobile devices.

  1. Overview

    1. The Services help our Clients engage with Consumers during the buying process, gather and display product feedback from Consumers to drive purchase decisions, and analyze and act upon that Consumer feedback.   1. Information We Collect Through the PowerReviews Network

    1. Information You Submit

      1. User Generated Content. As part of our Services to our Clients, we provide Consumers the ability submit reviews, comment on or rate goods, products and services on websites within the PowerReviews Network (collectively, “User Generated Content”). You should be aware that any information you provide in the area that is intended to collect such User Generated Content will be published on a publicly facing website and will be read, collected, and used by PowerReviews, its subsidiaries, vendors and Clients. Therefore, please do not include any information within these areas that you do not want to share with the general public, including personally identifiable information, such as your name, email address or financial information. PowerReviews uses User Generated Content for providing the Services to our Clients, marketing research, new product development, to personalize or improve our Services, to detect fraudulent activities and for analytical purposes.

      2. Consumer Account Info. In order to submit User Generated Content, you will have to create an account with the PowerReviews Client whose products, services or goods you are reviewing or rating. During the course of creating an account, you may be asked to submit information, such as but not limited to, your name, email address, mailing address or phone number, and other data (collectively, “Consumer Account Info”). The Consumer Account Info may be collected by both PowerReviews and the applicable PowerReviews Client. PowerReviews uses Consumer Account Info to assist with the creation of an account, to detect fraud and inauthentic content, provide you the ability to review, comment on or rate products, or otherwise create content across Client websites on the PowerReviews Network.

      3. How PowerReviews’s Clients Use User Generated Content and Consumer Account Info. To further understand how the PowerReviews Client to whom you have submitted User Generated Content and Consumer Account Info will use such data, please consult the terms and conditions on that Client’s website (e.g. the privacy policy).

    2. Cookies and Other Technologies

      1. We use cookies, web beacons and other technologies to collect information from Consumers on the PowerReviews Network. Our technologies may collect the IP address of your computer, the pages you visit within the PowerReviews Network, the date and time of your visit, browser type and version and other click-stream data (collectively “Analytics and Tracking Data”). We use the Analytics and Tracking Data to operate the Services, enable the submission of User Generated Content, to enable anonymous analytics and measurement reporting, and to display online advertisements to you and other users.

      2. Types of Technologies on the PowerReviews Network.

        1. Web Beacons. Web beacons are small, graphic images on web pages or web-based documents or in email messages. We use web beacons in order to personalize your experience on the PowerReviews Network, determine the usefulness of the information our Services provide and to analyze general user traffic patterns.

        2. Cookies. PowerReviews uses its own cookies and cookies from third parties for on the PowerReviews Network. For more information on cookies, including how you can opt out, disable or delete cookies, please click here.

      2. Marketing Communications. From time to time, we may send marketing communications to you on behalf of our Clients. Out of respect for your privacy, you may choose to stop receiving our newsletter or marketing emails by following the unsubscribe instructions included in these emails or by contacting the applicable Client directly.

    4. Correcting, Updating or Deleting Your Information

      1. If you would like to access, correct, amend, or delete Consumer Account Info or User Generated Content submitted through a Client, please contact that Client directly. If our Client requests us to update or remove your information from our systems, we will respond to their request within thirty (30) days. If you would like to access, correct, amend or delete any of your personally identifiable information held by PowerReviews, please contact us using one of the methods listed in this policy.

    1. Generally - A cookie is a small text file that some websites place on your computer.

    2. Uses

      1. Cookies are generally used to:

        1. Collect information about the pages you view and your activities on the site.

        2. Enable sites to recognize you, for example by:

          1. Remembering your user ID.

          3. Remembering content you submitted or comments you made.

If cookies are disabled or blocked then Consumers will not be tracked, via an anonymous session unique identifier within the session.

If cookies are disabled then the service cannot track reviews user have submitted or commented on, which may impact the ability to perform these actions. Additionally if user has chosen to have their login credentials remembered, then this feature will not work.

To enable user-generated content submission.

If cookies are disabled then users may not be able to submit content or comments.

To enable anonymous analytics & measurement reporting. (“PowerReviews Network Cookie”)

If cookies are disabled or blocked then users will not be tracked via an anonymous unique identifier.

To serve online advertising.

*As of the last date this policy was updated, the following PowerReviews partners set third party cookies to serve online advertising: Doubleclick and Rocketfuel (“Ad Partners”).

If cookies are disabled or blocked then users may still see ads on sites that choose to serve ads, however, such ads will not be tailored to the user based on the user’s browsing history. You can opt out of our Ad Partners’ cookies by visiting their website.     1. Deleting, Disabling and Opting-out of Cookies

      1. To delete session cookies, simply close your web browser or turn off the computer’s power. The session cookies will be deleted automatically.

      2. Simply closing your web browser or turning off your computer will not delete persistent cookies. In order to delete persistent cookies, you will need to manually delete them through your browser’s settings options.

      1. We make available a PowerReviews "opt-out" cookie that will prevent us from using cookies to collect Analytics and Tracking Data on that browser as well as prevent us from displaying targeted advertisements and website content. Please click the button below to opt-out.

      1. If you receive marketing communications from one of our Clients and would no longer like to be contacted by them, please contact that Client directly.

      2. If you receive marketing communications from PowerReviews and would no longer like to be contacted by us, please send a request to be opted out of marketing communications to privacy@powerreviews.com or by using the opt-out functionality in the marketing email.

    1. We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will also revise the "last updated" date at the beginning of the policy. If we make any material changes we will notify you by email (sent to the e-mail address specified in your account, if applicable) or by means of a notice on this website prior to the change becoming effective.

    1. We do not knowingly collect information from children less than 13 years of age.

    1. We will share your personal information with third parties only in the ways that are described in this privacy policy. We do not sell your name, phone number, email or mail address to third parties.

    2. Consumer Account Info may be made available to our Clients in certain circumstances. For example; if a you submit a question about a product to a website on the PowerReviews Network, the question and your email address will be shared with the company that controls the website that the question was submitted to, the product manufacturer, or retailer to help answer the question.

    3. We may share User Generated Content and Consumer Account Info with third-party service providers (e.g., email service providers, data storage and processing facilities) in order for those service providers to perform business functions for us or on our behalf. These companies are authorized to use your personal information only as necessary to provide these services to us.

We will also disclose any information we collect, use or receive: if required or permitted by law, such as to comply with a subpoena, or similar legal process; and, when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request.

    5. In addition, any information in our possession or control will be disclosed in connection with any merger, acquisition, debt financing, sale of company assets, or other business transaction in which data could be transferred to third parties as one of our business assets.

We retain all personal information collected by or provided to us through the PowerReviews Network until the information is no longer necessary to: provide you with services; respond to your requests; authenticate your identity across the PowerReviews Network (e.g. for use with social authentication); monitor for fraudulent activity; and, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

We use security measures, including Secure Socket Layer encryption (SSL), that are reasonably designed to protect the information we collect from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. Please be aware, however, that no data security measures can be guaranteed to be completely effective. Consequently, we cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information.
